Nearly 50,000 people in Southeast Wisconsin are living with Alzheimer’s disease. In an effort to raise awareness and shed light on the importance of dedicating time to advancing research, treatment and finding a cure for Alzheimer’s disease, November is National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month.
As a sponsor for the Southeast Wisconsin Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association’s Memory Walk, Community Care has joined the fight against this devastating disease. The Memory Walk prefaces Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month, by bringing together family, friends, caregivers and concerned community members who want to make a difference. Among the walkers were a good number of Community Care employees.
The Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Wisconsin is holding educational conferences throughout Wisconsin during October and November. These conferences will stress the importance of research and medical treatments for those who have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. Acknowledging that Alzheimer’s is the sixth leading cause of death in America, candlelight vigils will be held throughout the state of Wisconsin in November to remember those who have lost their lives to Alzheimer’s.
Every 71 seconds someone in the United States is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. This fall, please take the time to learn about Alzheimer’s disease and how you can make a difference.
