Meet Our Marketing Specialists
asdf

As Community Care expands services in new counties, we need to introduce ourselves. That is the role of our marketing specialists.

When Community Care expands services in a new county, our marketing specialists are on the front line, meeting the community. They strive to speak to anyone who may know people who need the services Community Care provides, such as social workers, nurses, hospital discharge planners, home healthcare workers – anyone working with older adults or people with disabilities. They’ve been shaking hands and providing information at local chambers of commerce and local government meetings, county fairs and other places where they have the opportunity to meet people from the communities.

Connie Titter, who now works as Community Care’s marketing specialist in Waukesha County, has had a long career at Community Care. With her recent move to the marketing specialist position, she is returning to her roots.

Connie became interested in working to improve the wellbeing of aging adults when she and her husband cared for her father-in-law, who lived with them when he was in the early stages of dementia. That experience gave her an introduction into Adult Day Centers and other services important to her family at the time.

In 1999, Connie started at Community Care as a care consultant, involved in the initial rollover of COP and COP Waiver participants into Family Care. From there she has served Community Care in a variety of capacities, including as a social worker and team facilitator with PACE/Partnership teams at the Fond du Lac Avenue location, as the Social Work Supervisor for the Fond du Lac Avenue facility and a recreational therapy supervisor.

The marketing specialist position presented the opportunity for Connie to use skills she developed early in her professional life, when she worked with exports for International Petroleum Services in Houston, Texas. Now she is enjoying putting her marketing and communications skills to use to educate people about what Community Care has to offer. “I want to leave them with a better understanding of the differences between the programs so they can find the best option.”

Murl MacKinnon is Community Care’s marketing specialist for Sheboygan, Ozaukee and Washington Counties. Motivated by a strong desire to connect people with important services that would enhance their lives, Murl has significant marketing experience, working for a number of healthcare and mental healthcare providers. “My goal has always been to be the link between a person who needs services and an organization that can provide them,” he says.

Murl’s interest in serving people with needs began in high school when he provided lawn care for aging neighbors in Kenosha. “I saw three people go into a nursing home and learned how difficult that is.” He continued to visit them and says it was “mutually beneficial.”

Murl studied social work at the University of Wisconsin – Superior, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree. He learned that everyone needs a plan and that is where he can help. “A person needs a road map to see where to go and what to do” to live the life he wishes. “With a plan, he or she is so much better off,” he says.
